The partial area of a large office
building was going to be renovated which required removal of the
existing concrete slab-on-grade. To perform slab removal process
safely, the facility manager wanted to know if there were buried
utility pipes or other objects under the slab.
Concrete Science, Inc. conducted a radar survey to detect buried
objects, if any. The survey was carried out on the slab at 5-ft.
intervals by moving the antenna in a straight line and monitoring
the response on a monitor. The survey revealed that there were
grade beams under the slab every 20-ft. No other significant objects
were detected.
